Frequently asked questions
How does one photo become an animation?
The motion is synthesised: the frame is progressively cropped and offset across the frame count you set, which reads as a slow zoom or pan over the still.
What settings give a subtle move?
More frames with a shorter delay. Twenty frames at 80 milliseconds reads as a gentle drift; six frames at 200 looks like a jump.
Which motion should I pick?
Zoom for a portrait or a product shot, pan for a wide landscape where there is somewhere to travel, and pulse when you want attention rather than movement.
Does the GIF loop cleanly?
Zoom and pan run in one direction and snap back at the loop point. Feed the result through the ping pong tool if you want it to return smoothly.
