Motion Photo MVIMG to GIF
Android phones hide a short video clip inside MVIMG motion photos. Extract it and export the movement as a plain GIF anyone can view.
Upload a file to get started. Processing runs entirely in your browser.
How to use
- Drop the MVIMG or motion photo JPEG.
- Wait for the embedded clip to be extracted.
- Download the GIF.
Frequently asked questions
What is an MVIMG file?
A JPEG from an Android phone with a short MP4 appended after the image data. The still and the clip live in one file, which is why the file size looks odd for a photo.
Where do I find these on my phone?
In the camera roll, saved as MVIMG_ or with motion photo turned on. Copy the original file rather than a shared copy, since sharing usually strips the video half.
Why a GIF and not a video?
Because a GIF plays inline anywhere. If you want the clip at full quality, extract it as MP4 instead and keep the original frame rate.
What if nothing is extracted?
The file probably has no motion half, either because the feature was off or because a share or edit stripped it. Check the original in the camera roll.
