Frequently asked questions

How do I get the MOV off my iPhone?

Share the Live Photo to a Mac or a cloud folder and the paired video comes with it. Sharing it to most chat apps flattens it to a still first.

Why is the output only 10 fps?

To keep the GIF a reasonable size. A Live Photo is about three seconds; at the original frame rate the GIF would be several times larger for motion nobody notices.

Is the audio kept?

No. GIF has no audio track, so the sound recorded with the Live Photo is dropped. Convert to MP4 instead if you need it.

Does this work with Android motion photos?

Use the MVIMG tool for those. Android stores the clip inside the JPEG rather than as a separate MOV, so it needs different extraction.
