Frequently asked questions

Where does the caption sit?

In a bar across the bottom of every frame. The bar is drawn under the picture rather than over it, so the caption never covers the action.

Does the text appear on all frames?

Yes, it is burned into each frame, so the line stays put for the whole loop instead of flickering with the animation.

Can I use the top caption meme style?

This tool does bottom captions. For the top and bottom impact style, the white box caption tool draws both bars.

Will the GIF get much bigger?

A little. The caption bar adds rows of mostly flat color, which compresses well, so the increase is usually a few percent rather than a doubling.
