Working Hours Calculator

Add up hours worked from start and end times across a week, subtracting breaks, so a timesheet total is arithmetic rather than guesswork.

How to use

  1. Enter start and end times for each day.
  2. Subtract the break lengths.
  3. Read the daily and weekly totals.

Frequently asked questions

How do I handle a shift past midnight?

Enter it as ending the following day. Treating 22:00 to 06:00 as a same-day range gives a negative span, which is the usual timesheet error.

Should unpaid breaks be deducted?

If they are unpaid, yes, and most jurisdictions require a break to be logged once a shift passes a threshold. Enter it so the total reflects paid time.

Why decimal hours rather than minutes?

Because payroll multiplies by an hourly rate. Seven hours forty five minutes is 7.75, not 7.45, and that mistake shows up in a lot of hand-built timesheets.

Does it work out overtime?

It gives you the total. Overtime thresholds and multipliers vary by contract and country, so apply your own rule to the number it produces.
