Frequently asked questions
How do I scan a QR code from an image?
Open the Scan image tab, then drag a QR code picture or screenshot onto the drop area, click Browse files to pick one, or press Ctrl or Command plus V to paste a screenshot straight from the clipboard. The contents appear in the result panel.
Can I scan a QR code with my webcam?
Yes. Switch to the Camera tab and press Start camera. Point a QR code at the lens and it decodes as soon as the code is in focus. On phones the rear camera is used by default, and you can flip to the front one.
Are my images or camera uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding runs in JavaScript inside the page, so image bytes and camera frames stay on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and after the page loads the scanner keeps working offline.
Why is my QR code not scanning?
The code may be too small, blurry, or low-contrast in the frame. Crop tighter so the code fills more of the image, avoid glare, and make sure the whole code including its quiet border is visible. Animated GIFs decode from the first frame only.
