Frequently asked questions

Why not just screenshot the player?

A screenshot captures whatever the display shows, scaled and with the player chrome around it. This pulls the actual encoded frame at full resolution.

How precise is the timestamp?

To the nearest encoded frame. At 30 fps that is about 33 milliseconds, so entering 12.5 gives you the frame closest to twelve and a half seconds.

Can I get a JPG instead?

The export is PNG, which is lossless and right for a frame you plan to crop or edit. Convert to JPG afterwards if you need the smaller file.

Can I grab several frames at once?

Use the video to PNG tool for a sequence at a fixed interval. This one is for pulling a single specific moment.
