Compare Two Hashes Online
Paste two hashes and get a straight match or no match, instead of squinting at 64 hex characters and trusting your eyes.
How to use
- Paste the first hash.
- Paste the second one to check against.
- Read the match or no match result.
Frequently asked questions
Why not compare them by eye?
Because a 64 character hex string is exactly the kind of thing eyes skim. A single transposed character is the failure this is meant to catch.
Is the comparison case sensitive?
No. Hex digests are the same value whether they are printed upper or lower case, so casing differences do not count as a mismatch.
What if whitespace got copied in?
Leading and trailing whitespace is trimmed, which is the usual damage from copying a checksum out of a terminal or a release page.
What does a mismatch actually tell me?
That the two files are not identical. It does not say which one is wrong, so check you are comparing against the checksum for the right version first.
