ER Diagram Generator from Schema

Paste a schema and get an entity relationship diagram back, with the foreign keys drawn as the links between tables rather than left in the DDL.

How to use

  1. Paste your schema or table definitions.
  2. The entities and relationships are drawn.
  3. Save or screenshot the diagram.

Frequently asked questions

What input does it expect?

Table definitions with their columns and foreign keys. The relationships come from the foreign keys, so a schema without them produces boxes and no lines.

What do the crow's feet mean?

The many end of a relationship. A line with a single mark at one end and a fork at the other reads as one row on the left to many on the right.

Will it show junction tables sensibly?

They appear as their own entity with two relationships, which is what they are. Many-to-many is not drawn as a single line because the database does not store it that way.

Why bother diagramming an existing database?

Because the shape of the joins is the thing nobody can hold in their head past about eight tables, and it is exactly what a new person needs on day one.
