Angle Converter — Degrees, Radians & Gradians
Convert between degrees, radians, gradians, arcminutes, arcseconds, milliradians, and turns.
—
How this conversion works. Angles are converted through the degree; the radian factor uses 180/π per the SI definitions in the BIPM SI Brochure.
How to use
- Pick the unit you are converting from, such as Degree (°) or Radian (rad).
- Type the value and every other unit updates as you type.
- Copy the figure you need, or use the swap button to reverse the direction, Turn (tr) included.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert degree to radian?
1 degree = 0.0174533 radian. Choose "Degree (°)" as From and "Radian (rad)" as To, type a value, and the result updates instantly.
Why do programming languages use radians?
Math library functions (sin, cos, tan) take radians because calculus identities like d/dx sin(x) = cos(x) only hold in radians. Multiply degrees by π/180 before calling them.
What is a gradian used for?
The gradian (gon) splits a right angle into 100 units, so 400 gon = 360°. Surveying instruments in parts of Europe still use it for decimal-friendly angle math.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. Conversions run entirely in your browser using fixed factors — nothing is uploaded or logged.
